Support
Hey Trainer is a one-person app. Every message gets read. — support@heytrainer.ai · We aim to respond within 3–5 business days.
Voice & Wake Word
The app isn’t responding when I say “Hey Trainer.”
Check that the status indicator reads LISTENING (not PAUSED or ERROR). If it shows PAUSED, tap the orb to resume. If it shows ERROR, force-quit and relaunch the app. Make sure microphone permission is granted in your device Settings → Hey Trainer → Microphone.
Hey Trainer fires by accident — a TV or podcast keeps triggering it.
Go to Bag → Voice Enrollment and record 5 samples of your voice. Once enrolled, the app verifies your voice before logging, which significantly reduces false triggers from background audio.
How far away does the wake word work?
Hey Trainer works best within 6–8 feet (2 meters) of your device. Speaking at a normal gym volume — not shouting — is ideal. Results vary with background noise.
What phrases can I use?
Open the Help tab for the full list. Examples:
- “Hey Trainer, bench press, 3 sets of 8 at 185 pounds”
- “Hey Trainer, squats, 5 reps at 225”
- “Hey Trainer, that was 10 reps”
- “Hey Trainer, done with bench”
- “Hey Trainer, finish workout”
Logging & Workouts
A set was logged with the wrong weight or reps. Can I fix it?
Yes. Go to the Workout tab, long-press the set, and edit any field in the Edit Set sheet that slides up. Tap Save when done.
How do I delete a set I logged by mistake?
Long-press the set on the Workout tab → Edit Set sheet → tap Delete Set (bottom left) → confirm.
How do I end a workout?
Say “Hey Trainer, finish workout”, tap the stop icon in the workout header, or tap Finish Workout in the workout feed. A summary dialog will appear for confirmation.
My workout history is blank. Where did my data go?
Workout data is stored locally on your device. For signed-in users it is also backed up to the cloud and will restore when you sign in on a new device. Data is only removed if you delete the app, clear app storage, or use Delete account in the app. If none of those apply, email us with your device model and OS version and we’ll investigate.
Can I add a workout manually (without voice)?
Hey Trainer is voice-first. Voice is the primary input method; there is no manual-entry UI at this time.
Account & Subscription
Do I need to create an account?
No. Hey Trainer works without an account — core voice logging is free with no sign-in required. Creating an account unlocks cloud backup and sync across devices.
How do I subscribe to Hey Trainer Pro?
Go to Bag → Subscribe to Pro and choose a plan. The purchase is handled securely through your device’s app store (Google Play or App Store).
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Bag → Manage Subscription and follow the cancellation steps. You can also cancel through your device’s app store subscription settings (iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions; Android: Play Store → Subscriptions).
How do I restore a purchase after reinstalling?
Go to Bag → Manage Subscription → Restore Purchases.
Privacy & Data
Does Hey Trainer store my voice recordings?
Your voice audio is sent to Google Gemini to transcribe your command and parse it into structured workout data. Hey Trainer does not store the audio after processing. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
Is my workout data backed up to the cloud?
Yes, for signed-in users. Workout data (exercises, sets, weights) is stored locally and automatically synced to the cloud when you are signed in. Anonymous users (no account) keep data on-device only. Signing in after using the app anonymously will back up your existing workouts.
How do I delete all my workout data?
Open Bag (Settings), scroll to the bottom, and tap Clear all workout data. You will see a count of sessions affected before confirming. This action is permanent and also removes synced data from the cloud for signed-in users.
Delete account or data
How do I delete my account?
Account deletion is done entirely inside the app:
- Open Bag (bottom-right tab)
- Tap your account name or Account
- Tap Delete Account
- Confirm when prompted — you may be asked to re-authenticate
This permanently deletes your Hey Trainer account, all locally stored workout data, and all cloud-synced data from our servers. This action cannot be undone.
What data is removed when I delete my account?
- All workout sessions, sets, and history — from your device and from the cloud
- Your Firebase authentication record
- Your RevenueCat subscription link (does not cancel an active subscription — cancel that separately via the app store first)
Voice enrollment samples are stored locally only and are removed when you delete the app or clear app data.
How do I delete the app without an account?
Delete Hey Trainer from your device the usual way (long-press → Remove App on iOS, or uninstall via Settings on Android). All local data is removed with the app. If you have a subscription, cancel it first via Bag → Manage Subscription so it does not renew.
I can’t access the app to delete my account. What do I do?
Email support@heytrainer.ai with the subject line “Account deletion request” and include the email address associated with your account. We will process the deletion manually and confirm by email.
Bugs & Feedback
How do I report a bug?
Email support@heytrainer.ai with:
- What you were trying to do

The app crashed. What should I do?

I have a feature suggestion.
We’d love to hear it. Email support@heytrainer.ai with “Feature idea:” in the subject line.
